Encounter Overview

Themis is the third encounter of Pandaemonium: Anabaseios.

The fight centers around Light and Darkness mechanics that alter how players must position relative to the boss. Throughout the encounter, Themis will display gold or purple rings, which signal whether players should move closer to or farther away from the boss for upcoming mechanics.

The encounter repeatedly combines these light/dark indicators with knockbacks, stacks, spreads, and directional attacks, forcing the party to quickly identify safe positions.

Key mechanics include:

• light and dark positional indicators
• circle-based color matching mechanics
• knockback combinations
• stack and spread sequences
• clone-based cross attacks

Success largely depends on quickly identifying the color-based safe zones and reacting to the boss’s ring indicators.

Arena Overview

The encounter takes place in a large circular arena.

Themis will frequently create purple and gold circles across the arena floor that interact with player debuffs.

Players must often position themselves relative to these circles while also reacting to other mechanics occurring simultaneously.

Falling from the arena is not possible, but incorrect positioning will frequently result in heavy damage or debuffs.

Mechanic Archive

Eunomia

Heavy raidwide magical damage that applies Bleeding.

Response

• mitigate and heal.

Divisive Ruling

Large line AoE from the center of the arena.

After the attack resolves, the safe positioning depends on the boss’s ring color.

Purple Rings
• move close to the boss immediately after the AoE.

Gold Rings
• move farther toward the arena edge.

Response

• identify the ring color quickly
• reposition accordingly.

Dark and Light

The boss creates gold and purple circles on the arena floor.

These circles interact with player debuffs during the next mechanic.

Sigils of Discord

Players receive either a light or dark debuff.

Standing in the wrong colored circle causes continuous heavy damage.

Response

• stand inside the circle opposite your debuff color.

Dike

Dual tankbuster targeting both tanks.

Response

• tanks mitigate and healers prepare recovery.

Dineis

Players must stack toward the center of their assigned circle to bait two sets of AoEs.

After the AoEs appear:

• move away to avoid the explosions.

Emissary’s Will

Raidwide damage that removes all light and dark debuffs.

Response

• mitigate and heal.

Dismissal Ruling

Knockback from the boss followed by an AoE based on the boss’s ring color.

Purple Rings
• donut AoE after knockback.

Gold Rings
• point-blank AoE after knockback.

Knockback immunity can be used.

Response

• position correctly before the knockback
• move according to the ring color.

Upheld Ruling

Mechanic differs based on ring color.

Purple Rings
• a large tankbuster tether targets one tank
• followed by a donut AoE inside the boss hitbox.

Gold Rings
• a stack marker appears
• followed by a point-blank AoE where the boss jumps.

The tether cannot be swapped or broken.

Response

• tanks mitigate the tether if purple
• group stack if gold.

Styx

Multi-hit group stack attack.

Response

• stack together and mitigate.

Shadowed Messenger

Clones appear on cardinal positions and fire cross-shaped line AoEs across the arena.

Response

• move to intercardinal positions to avoid the lines.

Afterward, players must reposition for the color mechanics, typically moving toward the location where the purple clone appeared.

Blinding Light

Spread markers appear on all players.

Response

• spread out to avoid overlapping damage.

Encounter Flow

The encounter begins with Eunomia, establishing the recurring raidwide damage pattern.

Themis then introduces the fight’s core mechanic through Divisive Ruling, which teaches players how to react to the boss’s purple and gold ring indicators.

Shortly afterward, Dark and Light and Sigils of Discord introduce the color matching system where players must stand inside the correct circle to avoid continuous damage.

The fight escalates as the boss combines these mechanics with tank pressure from Dike, positional bait mechanics like Dineis, and knockback combinations from Dismissal Ruling.

Later phases add additional complexity with Upheld Ruling and the multi-hit stack mechanic Styx, requiring coordinated mitigation.

The encounter reaches its most chaotic point when Shadowed Messenger introduces clone-based cross attacks while players must still resolve the light/dark positioning mechanics.

The fight continues cycling these mechanics alongside spreads from Blinding Light until the boss is defeated.
