A Realm Reborn hunts introduce the basic Hunt system in Final Fantasy XIV. These marks send players into open-world zones to track and defeat special enemies for hunt currency, achievements, and weekly rewards.
ARR hunts are simpler than later expansion hunt systems. There are B Rank, A Rank, and S Rank marks, but no SS Rank hunts. This makes ARR a good starting point for learning hunt terminology, spawn windows, trackers, linkshells, and hunt etiquette before moving into later expansions.
ARR Hunt Overview
Hunts are open-world marks that appear in specific zones. Some marks respawn quickly, while others only return after long windows or special conditions. Players often coordinate hunts through linkshells, cross-world linkshells, shout chat, Discord communities, and third-party hunt trackers.
In ARR, hunts are split into three main ranks:
- B Ranks: Used mainly for weekly elite mark bills. These respawn very quickly and are not usually part of hunt trains.
- A Ranks: Commonly killed during organized hunt trains. These usually return several hours after being defeated.
- S Ranks: Rare marks with longer respawn windows and special spawn behavior.
Hunt Terms Explained
Hunt communities use a lot of shorthand. These are the main terms new players should understand.
- Dead: The hunt has been killed and cannot currently spawn.
- Window Open: The hunt is eligible to spawn again, but may not be active yet.
- Max / Missing: The hunt has reached the end of its expected respawn window or is assumed to be available if conditions are met.
- Sniped: The hunt was killed without being reported to the wider community or tracker.
- Tracker: A community-run website used to track hunt deaths, spawn windows, and reported marks.
- Mapping: The process of checking possible spawn points to narrow down where a hunt may appear.
ARR Hunt Ranks
B Rank Hunts
B Rank hunts are primarily used for weekly elite mark bills. They respawn quickly, so they are not usually treated as rare community marks. If you are working on weekly hunt bills, B Ranks are the marks you will personally seek out and defeat.
A Rank Hunts
A Rank hunts are more valuable than B Ranks and are commonly killed during hunt trains. A hunt train is an organized group that moves from zone to zone defeating multiple A Rank marks for rewards.
ARR A Ranks are simpler than later expansion hunts, but players may still report them through linkshells, shout chat, or trackers when found.
S Rank Hunts
S Rank hunts are the rarest ARR marks. They have longer respawn windows and may require special conditions before they appear. When an S Rank spawns, nearby players may see a message in chat indicating the presence of a powerful mark.
S Ranks are often shared through hunt linkshells and trackers so more players can participate before the mark is pulled.
ARR Hunt Navigation
Hunt Trackers and Community Tools
Hunt trackers are third-party community tools used to monitor hunt timers, reported kills, and possible spawn windows. These tools are maintained by the community and may vary by region, data center, or server.
Commonly used hunt resources include:
- Bear Tracker
- ffxiv-the-hunt.net
- Eorzea World
- FFXIVHunt
The Tavern does not replace live hunt trackers. This guide explains how ARR hunts work and where to find them. For live timers and current reports, use the tracker or community resource preferred by your server or data center.
Hunt Linkshells and Communication
Hunt linkshells and cross-world linkshells are commonly used to share hunt spawns, special FATEs, and achievement FATEs. If you are looking for a hunt linkshell, you can usually ask politely in a city-state, during a hunt train, or after a special FATE.
Example message:
Looking for hunt LS.
When reporting a hunt, include the rank, target name, and location whenever possible.
Useful Hunt Macro Parameters
These macro parameters are commonly used when sharing hunt locations:
- <flag> — Links the last map flag you placed.
- <pos> — Links your current position.
- <t> — Links your current target’s name.
- <thpp> — Links the target’s current HP percentage.
Common chat channels include:
- /sh — Sends a message to players in the current zone.
- /y — Sends a message to nearby players.
- /ls1 — Sends a message to your first linkshell.
- /cwls1 — Sends a message to your first cross-world linkshell.
Example Hunt Macros
/sh S Rank | <t> <pos>
/ls1 S Rank | <t> <pos>
/cwls1 S Rank | <t> <pos>
/ls1 A Rank | <flag>
/cwls1 A Rank | <flag>
/sh Special FATE | <flag>
/y Pulling in 10 seconds
Basic Hunt Etiquette
Hunts are shared open-world content. Good communication keeps the system useful for everyone.
- Report rare marks when possible instead of pulling immediately.
- Give players time to arrive for S Ranks when the group is coordinating.
- Use map flags or position links when sharing locations.
- Do not rely on one tracker as absolute truth; hunt trackers are community-maintained.
- Respect the server or data center’s normal hunt train habits.
You do not need to join a hunt community to participate in ARR hunts, but linkshells and trackers make the system much easier to follow.
ARR Hunt Rewards
ARR hunts reward hunt currency and can contribute toward weekly hunt objectives, achievements, and long-term reward goals. Later expansions expand the hunt system with additional currencies, rewards, and SS Rank behavior, but ARR provides the foundation for understanding how hunts work across the rest of Final Fantasy XIV.
