Encounter Overview

Hegemone is the second encounter of Pandaemonium: Abyssos.

The fight focuses heavily on tile-based safe zones and player-facing mechanics. Several abilities create danger tiles across the arena that players must avoid, while others require players to carefully control the direction their character is facing.

Key mechanics include:

  • rotating conal AoEs

  • arena tile safety puzzles

  • player-directed cone attacks

  • rotating boss cleaves

  • paired tile swaps in later phases

The arena is surrounded by a lethal purple border.

Arena Overview

The arena consists of a grid of square tiles.

Several mechanics mark tiles as safe or dangerous, forcing players to reposition throughout the encounter.

The purple border surrounding the arena will instantly kill players if touched.

Mechanic Archive

Hemitheos’s Dark IV

Raid-wide magical damage.

Response

• mitigate and heal.

Aetheric Polyominoid

Four needles drop onto the arena at the inner corners of the outer intercardinal tiles.

These create danger tiles and safe tiles across the grid.

Tiles that pulse or glow are unsafe.

Response

• move to a non-pulsating tile.

Choros Ixou

The boss moves to the center and points her hands in one of two directions:

• east/west
• north/south

She fires large conal AoEs covering roughly a quarter of the arena.

Response

• move away from the direction her hands point.

This attack is often cast multiple times in succession.

Transmission

The boss tethers to players and applies Glossomorph.

When the debuff expires:

  1. players are frozen in place

  2. they fire a long conal AoE in the direction they are facing

Anyone hit takes heavy damage and gains Vulnerability Up.

Response

• face toward the edge of the arena before the debuff resolves.

This ensures the attack fires safely away from the party.

Synergy

Tankbuster targeting both tanks.

Applies a short Bleeding debuff.

Any non-tank player hit by the attack will die.

Response

• tanks separate slightly from the party
• heal through the bleed.

Strophe Ixou

The boss rotates around the arena while repeatedly firing conal attacks.

Arrow indicators show the rotation direction:

• clockwise
• counter-clockwise

She continues rotating until completing a full 360° spin.

Response

• rotate around the boss in the opposite direction of the attacks.

Dark Ashes

An AoE marker appears under every player.

Response

• spread to avoid overlapping damage.

Aetherial Exchange

Upgrades Aetheric Polyominoid into Polyominoid Sigma.

The spawned Polyominoids will:

  1. tether to each other

  2. swap positions before the cast finishes

This changes where the safe zones appear.

Some tiles may become completely unsafe.

Response

• identify where the safe tile will be after the swap
• stand there before the cast finishes.

Encounter Flow

The fight begins with Aetheric Polyominoid tile puzzles, followed by repeated casts of Choros Ixou.

At around 80% health, the boss introduces Transmission, forcing players to control their facing direction.

Later mechanics combine:

  • tile puzzles

  • rotating cleaves

  • player spreads

  • directional attacks

Once the boss reaches 50% HP, Aetherial Exchange begins altering tile positions, making the puzzle more complex.

From this point onward the boss loops:

  1. Polyominoid Sigma tile puzzle

  2. Strophe Ixou rotation mechanic

  3. raidwide damage

until the encounter ends.
