Encounter Overview

A9N – Refurbisher 0 is the opening encounter of Alexander: The Creator and serves as a mechanical reset from the chaos of Midas. While the fight is simpler on the surface, it introduces a structured environmental puzzle that requires players to actively manipulate the arena using Power Generators and revived adds. This is less about raw damage and more about correctly executing the intended mechanic loop.

The encounter revolves around managing revived enemies and positioning them into lava zones before they can empower the boss. Mistakes here don’t just deal damage—they actively strengthen Refurbisher 0 and can lead to a hard enrage if mishandled repeatedly. The fight teaches coordination, assignment awareness, and clean execution rather than reactive play.

Arena Overview

The arena is divided into four quadrants: Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, and Southeast. Each quadrant will eventually become engulfed in lava in a fixed order, making positioning and planning critical. The floor also contains inactive enemies (scrap piles) and movable Power Generators, which are central to the encounter’s mechanics.

Players must use Power Generators to revive these scrap enemies, allowing the off-tank to drag them into upcoming lava zones. Once a generator is placed, it cannot be moved again, so placement must be deliberate. The main tank should never handle generators, as incoming attacks will cause them to drop the object and waste the mechanic entirely.

Boss Mechanics

Faust Z (Pre-Fight)

Tank Cleave: Faust Z uses a heavy frontal cleave that can be shared between both tanks. Face it away from the party and mitigate accordingly. This is a simple warm-up before the main encounter.

Refurbisher 0

Core Mechanic – Power Generators: Players must move Power Generators next to scrap piles to revive enemies. Once revived, the off-tank should immediately pick them up and drag them into a quadrant that will soon be covered in lava. If the adds are not killed before lava reaches them, the boss gains buffs instead, making the fight progressively harder.

Lava Zones: Quadrants will fill with lava in a fixed order:
Northwest → Northeast → Southwest → Southeast. Players caught in lava take heavy damage and gain a strong Burns damage-over-time effect. Proper planning ensures adds are placed into the correct quadrant ahead of time.

Generator Handling: Once placed, Power Generators cannot be moved again. Assign specific players (usually DPS or healers) to handle generators. Tanks should focus on positioning enemies and boss control only.

Full Metal Faust: A large add spawns in the Northwest quadrant and deals proximity damage on arrival. The party should move away from its spawn point to reduce damage.

Full Metal Faust Strategy: Refurbisher 0 becomes invulnerable during this phase. The off-tank must drag Full Metal Faust to the Southeast quadrant, which is the last to be covered in lava. This maximizes the available time to kill it. This is a clear DPS check—if the add reaches lava while still alive, the raid will instantly wipe.

Cycle Reset: After Full Metal Faust is defeated, Refurbisher 0 becomes targetable again and the encounter loops back into generator and add management. Failure to properly handle adds will allow the boss to rebuild itself.

Scrap (Tank Cleave): A column attack on the main tank. Always face the boss away from the party to prevent unnecessary damage.

Scrap Burst: Players are marked with orange indicators that drop meteors. After they land, players must hide behind these meteors to avoid a follow-up attack that applies a Bleeding damage-over-time effect.

Scrapline: A large 270-degree frontal cone attack. The safe zone is directly behind the boss. All players, including tanks, should move behind the boss to avoid it.

Scrapbomb: A stack marker that requires the entire party to group together to share damage. Healers should prepare shields and healing for this mechanic.

Scrap Storm (Hard Enrage): If the boss successfully rebuilds its body components due to failed add management, it will cast Scrap Storm and instantly wipe the raid. This is a true failure condition tied directly to mechanic execution rather than time.

Encounter Flow

Opening: Defeat Faust Z while managing its tank cleave safely. Transition into the main arena and prepare assignments for generator handling and add positioning.

Generator Phase: Players activate scrap enemies using Power Generators while the off-tank gathers and positions them into the correct upcoming lava quadrant. The party focuses on killing adds before lava resolves.

Full Metal Faust Phase: The boss becomes invulnerable as Full Metal Faust spawns. The raid moves away from the spawn point, then focuses all damage on the add while the off-tank drags it to the Southeast quadrant. Kill it before lava reaches that area.

Repeat Cycle: After the add dies, Refurbisher 0 becomes targetable again. The fight loops through generator management, add handling, and boss mechanics.

Failure Condition: If adds are mishandled and the boss rebuilds fully, it will cast Scrap Storm and wipe the party.
