Encounter Overview

A10N – Lamebrix Strikebocks is the second encounter of Alexander: The Creator and introduces a more interactive arena compared to A9. The fight revolves around controlling environmental mechanics through three central buttons while avoiding overlapping hazards like spike traps, rolling adds, and directional attacks.

Unlike the previous fight, this encounter leans more into movement and awareness. Players must recognize which button is being triggered, react quickly to changing arena hazards, and maintain clean positioning while handling targeted mechanics like tethers and Prey markers.

If you want to compare this fight against the rest of the tier, see the FFXIV Raid Rankings.

Arena Overview

The arena features three interactive buttons aligned through the center of the platform, along with electrified tiles on the sides. These electric tiles should always be avoided, as stepping on them inflicts Paralysis, which cannot be removed and must simply expire.

Each button triggers a different environmental hazard when activated, either by players stepping on them or by the boss jumping onto them. Understanding these button effects and positioning accordingly is the core of the encounter.

Boss Mechanics

Button Mechanics

Closest Button (Spike Trap): Activating this button causes spikes to erupt from the floor, immobilizing and damaging any players standing on them. Players should avoid standing directly on buttons when this is triggered.

Middle Button (Falling Spike Balls): Large spike balls drop onto the buttons. Safe zones are located between the buttons or slightly off to the sides. Standing directly on or too close to a button will result in taking damage.

Furthest Button (Side Spikes): Spikes shoot along the outer edges of the platform. The safe zone is aligned with the row of buttons, so players should position themselves centrally when this is triggered.

Boss Interaction: Lamebrix will periodically jump onto a button to activate one of these mechanics. Players must quickly identify which button is being triggered and move to the correct safe zone.

Lamebrix Strikebocks

Single Charge: The boss performs one of two AoE patterns:

  • Circular Cleave: A large point-blank AoE around the boss. Move away from the boss to avoid it. This is telegraphed by a red arrow marker and dialogue indicating close-range danger.
  • Donut AoE: A donut-shaped attack that is safe near the boss. Move close to the boss to avoid it. This is telegraphed by a green ring marker and dialogue indicating distant targets are unsafe.

Prey: A player is marked with a spiky tether. The boss follows up with a line AoE that deals proximity damage. The targeted player should move away from the group, while all other players avoid standing in the line between the boss and the target.

Tether (Tank Soak): One player is tethered and will take heavy damage if the line is not intercepted. The off-tank should position themselves between the boss and the tethered player to absorb the damage safely.

Saw Blades: Saw blades spawn along the sides of the arena and move across the platform. These deal damage and knock back players they hit. The safest position is typically between two buttons, where movement options remain open.

Steamroller Add: When the boss jumps to one end of the arena, a steamroller add spawns and begins moving toward the boss. The party must quickly kill this add before it reaches its destination. During this phase, the raid takes consistent AoE damage, so healers should be prepared for sustained healing.

If the steamroller is not killed in time, it continues advancing and disrupts the encounter flow, making subsequent mechanics more difficult to handle.

Encounter Flow

Opening: Establish positioning near the center of the arena while avoiding electric tiles. Watch for the boss jumping to a button and respond to the corresponding mechanic.

Button Cycles: The boss will repeatedly activate button mechanics. Players must identify the correct safe zone each time and reposition quickly while maintaining awareness of other mechanics.

Single Charge & Prey: Handle the boss’s AoE patterns by moving in or out depending on the telegraph. Prey targets should move away from the group, and the off-tank should intercept tether damage when required.

Steamroller Phase: When the boss moves to the edge, switch focus to the steamroller add. Burn it down quickly while healing through raid-wide damage.

Saw Blade Phase: Return to boss damage while avoiding moving saw blades and continuing to resolve button mechanics.

Repeat: The fight cycles through these mechanics until the boss is defeated.
