Overall Difficulty Rating

Overall Difficulty

4.7 / 5 (Duty Finder Standard)

Witness the end of a world. Amaurot isn’t just a dungeon; it’s a phantom memory of the Final Days, where the sky screams and the very earth unspools. As the 5.0 capstone, it demands a total synthesis of everything you’ve learned in the First. Composure is your only shield against the apocalypse.

Evaluated under standard Duty Finder conditions with level sync active.
Assumes average party coordination and no voice communication.

Expansion Context

Amaurot serves as the 5.0 Capstone Execution Test. It represents the pinnacle of Shadowbringers’ launch design: massive, cinematic scale paired with Tight Mechanical Enforcement. While the “Chaos” of Stormblood’s capstones (like The Ghimlyt Dark) is replaced by cleaner telegraphing, the Environmental Lethality is significantly higher. This dungeon introduces true “Platform Denial” mechanics where the arena itself becomes an enemy.

At Level 80, the game assumes your rotation is muscle memory—because your eyes need to be on the horizon.

Tank Risk Assessment

You are holding the line against the nightmares of a dying civilization.

  • The “Final Days” Trash Friction: The mobs in Amaurot, particularly the Terminus beasts, hit with high-potency physical autos and untelegraphed cleaves. Pulling the large packs in the second “falling city” segment requires a flawless mitigation loop. If you run out of cooldowns before the Terminus Detonator adds are down, you will collapse instantly.

  • Therion (Final Boss) Buster: Deathly Ray and the subsequent auto-attacks are tuned to punish lazy mitigation. Because the final boss has no flank or rear safe zones, you must be precise with your positioning to ensure the beams don’t catch the party.

  • Mithridates (Boss 2) Positioning: You must manage the boss’s location to ensure the party has access to the “safe” quadrants during the Electric Beam and Laser overlaps.

Tank Risk Rating: 4.6 / 5

Cooldown structure is mandatory.

Healer Strain Analysis

Expect your Throughput and Resource Management to be pushed to the limit.

  • The “Apocalyptic” Pulse: Amaurot is defined by heavy, unavoidable room-wide damage (The First Beast’s “Meteor” and Therion’s “Apokalypsis”). You must maintain the party at high HP levels; in this tier, an avoidable hit followed by a room-wide pulse is a guaranteed casualty.

  • Platform Denial (Final Boss): During Therion, the boss will systematically destroy or shroud the arena. You must move the party forward while keeping them topped off. If you are forced to Raise a DPS during the “Beam” phase, your MP and focus will be dangerously overextended.

  • Limited Recovery: The “Vulnerability Up” stacks here are terminal. A player with 2 stacks will not survive the final boss’s room-wide laser, even with shields.

Healer Strain Rating: 4.7 / 5

Prevention is essential.

DPS Responsibility Index

Your performance is measured by Spatial Awareness and Add Prioritization.

  • The “Apokalypsis” Protocol (Final Boss): This is the definitive “Fail” point. When the boss prepares his massive mouth-beam, you must move to the small outcrops on the side of the platform. Greeding one extra GCD in the center of the platform results in an instant kill.

  • Terminus Priority (Boss 2): You must eliminate the secondary adds (Terminus Wrecker/Detonator) immediately. If the Detonator finishes its cast, the resulting explosion will wipe the party regardless of the tank’s gear.

  • Zero Hesitation: During The First Beast (Boss 1), you must hide behind falling buildings/meteors to avoid line-of-sight damage. If you hesitate or misjudge the angle, you are removed from the fight.

DPS Responsibility Rating: 4.7 / 5

Execution consistency is non-negotiable.

Wipe Punishment Profile

Amaurot punishes repeated mechanical failures decisively.

Common wipe scenarios:

  • Burst window tank collapse

  • Add mismanagement escalating healer strain

  • Layered mechanic failures

  • Stacked avoidable damage overwhelming recovery capacity

Recovery after instability begins is rare.

Wipe Punishment Rating: 4.7 / 5

Recovery margins are minimal.

Boss Risk Snapshot

Amaurot emphasizes layered execution and sustained pressure.

Boss 1 – Therion

  • Primary Wipe Trigger: Improper positioning during layered telegraphs.

  • Role Under Highest Strain: DPS.

  • Common Duty Finder Failure: Players greed uptime during arena-wide mechanics.

Boss 2 – Terminus Wrecker

  • Primary Wipe Trigger: Add mismanagement during sustained pressure phases.

  • Role Under Highest Strain: Healer.

  • Common Duty Finder Failure: Slow swaps allow pressure to exceed recovery capacity.

Boss 3 – Therion’s Final Form

  • Primary Wipe Trigger: Burst window collapse combined with movement failure.

  • Role Under Highest Strain: Tank and Healer.

  • Common Duty Finder Failure: Mistimed mitigation while the party takes avoidable damage.

The “Big Three” Wipe Scenarios

  • The “Apokalypsis” Beam (Final Boss): Multiple party members failing to reach the side platforms in time. This is the #1 cause of wipes in Amaurot, as it usually claims the Healer and at least one DPS.

  • Add Overwhelm (Boss 2): Slow target swaps on the Terminus beasts. The cumulative room-wide damage and potential explosions exceed the healer’s HPS capacity.

  • Line-of-Sight Failure (Boss 1): Failing to hide behind the rubble during the “Meteor” sequence. This is a binary “Pass/Fail” mechanic that punishes greed with a reset.

Overpull Tolerance

Low.

Controlled pacing is required.

Gear Sensitivity

Low to Moderate.

Overgearing smooths trash phases but does not eliminate wipe potential tied to layered mechanics and stacked avoidable damage.

Execution remains the dominant stabilizing factor.

Final Guild Verdict

Amaurot is the Ultimate Launch-Tier Execution Test. It rewards those who can maintain their rotation while the world literally falls apart around them. It trades the chaos of earlier tiers for a majestic, lethal structure.

Watch for the beams, hide behind the rubble, and finish the story.
