Overall Difficulty Rating
Evaluated under standard Duty Finder conditions with level sync active.
Assumes average party coordination and no voice communication.
Expansion Context
Introduced in Patch 2.4, this isn’t the “Doom” tiles and stone-pedestal puzzle crawl you remember from your leveling days. Qarn (Hard) flips the script, trading logic puzzles for mechanical layering and awareness checks. This dungeon is designed to punish “brute force” mentalities.
Most wipes here don’t happen because a mob hit too hard; they happen because someone stopped paying attention to the environment.
Tank Risk Assessment
You’re the anchor in a very chaotic room. Your main job is preventing the “Snowball Effect.”
-
Add Pickup Speed: Between the Amdapori statues and boss adds, you need to be fast. If a secondary enemy stays on the healer for more than a few seconds, the party’s rhythm breaks.
-
Mitigation for Spikes: This isn’t sustained damage—it’s burst. You’ll be fine one second and at 20% the next because of a mechanic overlap. Don’t sit on your cooldowns waiting for a “big” pull.
-
The “Don’t Rush” Rule: If you try to pull the boss into the next phase before the current mechanics have resolved, you’re just inviting a wipe.
Runs typically destabilize when tanks attempt to rush phases without letting mechanics resolve properly.
Tank Risk Rating: 3.9 / 5
Mitigation timing and spatial awareness are critical.
Healer Strain Analysis
Your stress level is directly tied to how well your teammates play.
-
The Multi-Fail Spiral: If one person misses a mechanic, it’s a heal. If two people miss a mechanic simultaneously, your recovery window basically vanishes.
-
Measured Stabilization: You’ll face heavy party-wide spikes. The trick is staying calm; panic-spamming your biggest heals will leave you out of mana before the boss is at 30%.
-
Priority: Watch for the status ailments. Some of the “Hard” version’s debuffs are much more punishing than the standard poison or paralysis.
If two players take avoidable damage at once, the fight often spirals fast.
Healer Strain Rating: 4.0 / 5
Calm stabilization matters more than panic throughput.
DPS Responsibility Index
You are the primary “Wipe Preventers” in Qarn (Hard).
-
Target Priority is King: You cannot just sit on the boss and hope for the best. There are adds here that must die immediately, or the tank simply won’t survive the incoming math.
-
Interacting with the Arena: Whether it’s the glowing heads or the Sabotender checks, your eyes need to be roaming the room. In most Duty Finder wipes, the culprit is a DPS who didn’t swap targets.
-
Execution over Output: A dead DPS does zero damage. Respect the positional mechanics and movement requirements even if it means dropping a combo.
In average Duty Finder groups, most wipes stem from missed mechanic checks rather than low damage output.
DPS Responsibility Rating: 4.2 / 5
Execution consistency determines success.
Wipe Punishment Profile
Qarn (Hard) punishes repeated mechanic failures decisively.
Common wipe scenarios:
-
Ignoring key boss mechanics
-
Failing to handle add phases correctly
-
Overlapping avoidable damage overwhelming healer throughput
-
Tank collapse after mechanic mismanagement
Unlike some dungeons, recovery here is difficult once multiple mechanics are mishandled.
Wipe Punishment Rating: 4.3 / 5
Errors compound quickly.
The “Big Three” Wipe Scenarios
-
The Mechanic Ignorance Cascade: This is the silent killer. A player ignores a boss tell, takes a hit, the healer shifts focus, the tank misses a cooldown, and the whole thing collapses in 10 seconds.
-
Add Phase Overwhelm: Especially in the Vicegerent fight. If the secondary enemies aren’t prioritized, the combined pressure across all roles becomes unmanageable for a level-synced group.
-
Stacked Avoidable Damage: This dungeon loves to throw two or three small mechanics at you at once. Taking one hit is fine; taking three overlapping mistakes is an express trip back to the start of the dungeon.
Overpull Tolerance
Low.
The dungeon rewards controlled pacing and punishes rushed engagements.
Gear Sensitivity
Moderate.
While overgearing reduces baseline damage, it does not protect against mechanic-driven wipes.
Undergeared groups feel little margin for error during layered phases.
How to Unlock

Final Guild Verdict
The Sunken Temple of Qarn (Hard) is a “Mechanic Check” disguised as a nostalgic trip. It rewards the players who treat it with the same respect as a Raid-lite encounter. If the group coordinates and respects the target priorities, it’s a smooth run.
If you try to ignore the rules, the Temple usually wins.
Guild Classification: Severe Risk (ARR Patch Tier)
