Encounter Overview
Eden Prime is the first encounter of Eden’s Gate, the opening raid tier of the Eden raid series introduced in the Shadowbringers expansion.
The fight introduces players to several recurring Eden mechanics including arena transformations, player-targeted AoE patterns, and multi-layered area denial attacks.
During the encounter, Eden manipulates the arena environment and summons light constructs that bombard players with overlapping mechanics. Later phases introduce add management and proximity mechanics before the fight begins repeating its earlier patterns.
Key mechanics include:
• tankbuster cleaves
• player-targeted AoE puddles
• rotating safe zones
• arena transformation mechanics
• add phase DPS check
Positioning awareness and quick movement between safe areas are essential throughout the encounter.
Arena Overview
The encounter takes place in a circular arena surrounded by a lethal boundary.
Players who come into contact with the outer edge of the arena will be instantly defeated.
Several mechanics require players to move toward the edges of the arena to create safe positioning space, making awareness of the boundary extremely important.
Mechanic Archive
Spear of Paradise
Heavy two-hit tankbuster targeting the main tank.
Response
• tanks mitigate the damage
• healers prepare for heavy single-target healing.
Eden’s Gravity
Raidwide magical damage affecting the entire party.
Response
• mitigate raidwide damage
• heal the group afterward.
Vice & Virtue (Orb Markers)
Four random players receive large circular AoE markers.
After a short delay the AoEs explode, leaving persistent dark puddles on the ground.
Response
• marked players move away from the group
• drop puddles near the arena edge
• avoid standing in the lingering puddles.
Eden’s Flare
Large donut-shaped AoE centered on Eden.
Response
• move inside Eden’s hitbox to avoid damage.
Vice & Virtue (Tank Blasts)
Eden tethers to both tanks and fires large line attacks toward them.
Response
• tanks move apart from each other
• aim the line attacks away from the party.
Pure Light
Eden teleports to one corner of the arena and charges a massive attack toward the center.
Players standing in front of Eden when the cast completes take lethal damage.
Response
• quickly move behind Eden
• avoid stepping into the arena edge.
Delta Attack
Multi-layered AoE mechanic consisting of:
• point-blank AoE around Eden
• cross-shaped line AoEs through the arena center
• individual AoE markers on all players
Response
• move to the corners of the arena
• spread out to avoid overlapping player AoEs.
Dimensional Shift
Eden transforms the arena environment while dealing raidwide damage.
During this phase the arena changes color and additional mechanics begin.
Pure Beam
Eden fires beams into floating orbs which then shoot targeted line AoEs across the battlefield.
Response
• avoid the line AoEs
• continue repositioning as beams target different players.
Paradise Lost
While Pure Beam occurs, circular AoEs repeatedly appear beneath random players.
Response
• continuously move while dodging beam attacks
• avoid standing in overlapping AoEs.
Fragor Maximus
Heavy raidwide damage that transitions the encounter into Phase 2.
Phase 2 – Add Phase
Proximity Markers
Two proximity markers appear near the center of the arena.
Response
• move away from the markers toward the north or south sides.
Guardians of Paradise
Two large adds spawn on the proximity markers.
These adds must be tanked and defeated before they use Unto Dust, which wipes the raid.
Response
• tanks pick up the adds and face them away from the party
• stack the adds together for efficient DPS
• defeat them quickly.
Guardian Force Transition
After the adds are defeated, a cinematic attack launches the raid into space before returning them to the arena.
The party takes heavy damage when landing.
Response
• healers prepare large raid healing.
Encounter Flow
The fight begins with Eden introducing raidwide damage and tankbuster mechanics while forcing players to spread with Vice & Virtue.
As the encounter progresses, players must navigate complex AoE patterns such as Delta Attack and Pure Light while carefully avoiding the arena edge.
Midway through the encounter, Dimensional Shift transforms the arena and introduces overlapping mechanics through Pure Beam and Paradise Lost, requiring constant movement while dodging multiple AoEs.
After the Fragor Maximus transition, the encounter enters an add phase where players must defeat the Guardians of Paradise before they enrage.
Once the adds are defeated and the party returns from the transition animation, Eden resumes its previous mechanics in a repeating pattern until it is defeated.
