Encounter Overview

Phoinix is the third encounter of the Pandæmonium: Asphodelos raid tier. The fight focuses on layered fire mechanics, orb telegraphs, and coordinated soak mechanics.

The encounter is divided into three phases. During the battle players must manage soaking mechanics, avoid divebomb attacks, and control adds before the encounter escalates into complex overlapping mechanics.

The edge of the platform is lethal and will instantly kill players who fall from the arena.

Arena Layout

The encounter takes place on a circular platform with a lethal outer boundary.

Arena characteristics:

• circular arena
• lethal arena edge
• rotating orb telegraphs
• expanding fire zones during later phases

Positioning around the boss and safe areas is critical throughout the fight.

Boss Behavior Profile

Phoinix combines arena telegraphs with soak mechanics and add management.

The encounter features:

• raidwide damage mechanics
• rotating AoE patterns
• tankbuster attacks
• soak mechanics
• divebomb attacks
• add phases with positional requirements

Players must maintain awareness of arena telegraphs while coordinating soak mechanics and positioning.

Phase 1 Mechanics

Experimental Fireplume

Phoinix summons rotating fire orb patterns around the arena.

Two possible patterns:

Large Orb

• Large AoE explosion centered on the platform.

Small Rotating Orbs

• Rotating AoEs around the arena edge
• One AoE also appears at the center.

Player Response

Players must identify the pattern and move to safe areas between explosions.

Scorched Exaltation

Raidwide damage ability.

Player Response

• Party mitigation recommended
• Healers prepare to recover raid health.

Heat of Condemnation

Tankbuster ability targeting both tanks.

Player Response

• Tanks mitigate damage
• Tanks should avoid overlapping with the raid.

Darkened Fire + Brightened Fire

Phoinix summons four Darkened Fire orbs around the arena.

Four players receive Brightened Fire markers and must soak the orbs.

If any Darkened Fire remains unsoaked:

• the raid takes heavy damage from Darkened Blaze.

Player Response

Marked players must soak the Darkened Fire orbs before they explode.

Left / Right Cinderwing

Directional attack hitting either the left or right side of the boss.

Player Response

Players must move to the safe side opposite the attack.

Trail of Condemnation

Phoinix flies to the edge of the arena and performs a divebomb attack across the center.

Player Response

Players must move out of the dive path to avoid the attack.

Phase 2 – Sunbird Phase

The encounter transitions with the message:

“A storm sweeps through, pouring burning rain!”

Two pairs of Sunbird adds appear with green circles around them.

Rear / Fore Carve

Sunbirds perform directional cone attacks.

Rear Carve

• cone attack behind the Sunbird.

Fore Carve

• cone attack in front of the Sunbird.

Players must move out of the telegraphed cones.

Blazing Rain

Continuous raidwide damage during the add phase.

Player Response

• Healers must sustain the raid through ongoing damage.

Flames of Undeath

Raidwide damage ability.

After all Sunbirds are defeated they are revived as Sparkfledged adds.

Dead Rebirth

Large raidwide attack that occurs after the Sunbirds die.

This attack becomes fatal if:

• Sunbird death circles overlapped heavily
• the Phoinix Fire bar reaches 100%.

Proper add control is required to survive this mechanic.

Phase 3 Mechanics

Phase 3 reintroduces many mechanics from Phase 1 while adding new mechanics.

Sparkfledged adds also appear and attack the off-tank.

Fledgling Flight

Sparkfledged enemies detach from Phoinix and perform Ashen Eye blasts.

Each blast covers more than a quarter of the arena.

Player Response

Players must position themselves in safe areas between the blasts.

Experimental Charplume

Players receive purple spread markers.

Player Response

Players must spread out to avoid overlapping damage.

Devouring Brand

Columns of fire appear from the cardinal directions.

The fire expands until the arena becomes a cross-shaped safe zone.

This mechanic is signaled with the message:

“Fire is consuming the field!”

Player Response

Players must move into the safe cross-shaped areas of the arena.

Searing Breeze

Circular AoE markers appear beneath players.

Player Response

Players must move away from the marked locations.

Flare of Condemnation

Spread marker ability used after Trail of Condemnation.

Player Response

Players must spread out to prevent overlapping damage.

Mechanic Sequence Pattern

The encounter generally follows this structure:

Fireplume Mechanics

Raidwide + Tankbuster

Darkened Fire Soak Mechanics

Cinderwing Directional Attacks

Trail of Condemnation Divebomb

Sunbird Add Phase

Dead Rebirth Raidwide

Sparkfledged Mechanics

Arena Control Mechanics

The encounter requires players to manage orb telegraphs, soak mechanics, and positional awareness while responding to increasingly complex arena hazards.

Role Pressure Analysis

Tanks

Tanks must handle dual tankbusters and manage aggro during the add phase.

Healers

Healers must sustain the raid through repeated raidwide attacks and continuous damage during the Sunbird phase.

DPS

Damage dealers must manage positioning while maintaining uptime and quickly defeat Sunbird adds during the transition phase.

Failure Points

Common wipe causes include:

• Darkened Fire orbs not being soaked
• incorrect positioning during Fireplume patterns
• overlapping Sunbird death circles
• being struck by Fledgling Flight blasts
• falling from the arena edge.
