Dungeon Overview
The Aurum Vale is infamous among adventurers for its unforgiving environment and brutal mechanics. This toxic cavern once served as a gold mine, but the region has long since been overrun by deadly flora and corrupted wildlife.
Nearly every area of the dungeon inflicts damage-over-time effects or places heavy pressure on healers. Enemy patrols, poison pools, and bosses that rely on stacking debuffs make Aurum Vale far more dangerous than most leveling dungeons that come before it.
For many players progressing through A Realm Reborn, this dungeon marks the first real test of debuff management and controlled pulls.
Dungeon Objectives
- Breach the lock
- Defeat the morbol bed keeper
- Clear the Coincounter’s chest
- Defeat the morbol bed keepers
Walkthrough Highlights
The Infamous First Room
The opening chamber of Aurum Vale is one of the most dangerous pulls in the ARR leveling sequence. Multiple patrol enemies move throughout the room, and careless movement can quickly trigger more enemies than the party can survive.
Tanks should pull cautiously here, hugging walls and avoiding unnecessary aggro. Overpulling the first room is the most common cause of wipes in the dungeon.
Goldbile Pools
The yellow liquid scattered throughout the dungeon applies the Goldbile damage-over-time effect. Standing in these pools quickly drains player health and places additional pressure on the healer.
Whenever possible, pull enemies onto solid ground and avoid fighting inside the pools.

Boss Encounters
Locksmith
Key Mechanics
Gold Rush — Applies the stacking Gold Lung debuff to all players.
Morbol Fruit — Objects around the arena that remove Gold Lung stacks when consumed.
Morbid Meal — Prevents players from consuming another fruit for 20 seconds.
Gold Dust — Circular AoE placed under a random player.
Hundred Lashings — Heavy melee damage on the tank.
Strategy Notes
Gold Lung cannot be removed with Esuna. Instead, players must interact with Morbol Fruit around the arena to cleanse their stacks.
Players should generally remove the debuff at around two stacks. Waiting too long dramatically increases incoming damage.
Tanks may need to stun the boss briefly to safely interact with a fruit without being interrupted.
Failure Points
The most common mistake is players ignoring their Gold Lung stacks until the healer is overwhelmed by the incoming damage.
Coincounter
Key Mechanics
10-Tonze Swipe — Frontal cleave.
100-Tonze Swipe — Large frontal cone attack.
100-Tonze Swing — Massive circular AoE around the boss.
Glower — Eye laser targeting a player that inflicts Paralysis.
Strategy Notes
Coincounter’s attacks are extremely dangerous but very readable. Players should watch the boss’s weapon stance:
- One hand on the mace means a frontal cone attack.
- Two hands means a large circular swing around the boss.
Non-tanks should remain behind the boss at all times to avoid the most dangerous cleaves.
Failure Points
Players who stand too close to the boss often get caught by 100-Tonze Swing, which can easily kill non-tanks.
Miser’s Mistress
Key Mechanics
Bad Breath — Inflicts numerous debilitating debuffs including Paralysis, Poison, Blind, and Silence.
Burrs — Stacking damage-over-time debuff that increases in strength.
Morbol Fruits — Used to cleanse Burr stacks and remove Bad Breath effects.
Hooked Burrs — Applies Burr stacks to a random player.
Morbol Seedlings — Adds that spawn if fruit pods hatch during the fight.
Strategy Notes
The boss should always be faced away from the party to avoid hitting multiple players with Bad Breath.
Players should remove Burr stacks using Morbol Fruits at roughly two to three stacks.
When the boss reaches around half health, several Morbol Fruits will spawn that must be destroyed immediately. If they hatch into Morbol Seedlings, the added Burr stacks can quickly wipe the party.
Failure Points
Groups usually wipe when Bad Breath hits the healer or when the Morbol Fruit adds are not destroyed quickly enough.

Difficulty Assessment
The Aurum Vale is widely regarded as one of the most punishing leveling dungeons in A Realm Reborn. Environmental damage, heavy debuffs, and enemy patrols make careless play extremely dangerous.
The dungeon emphasizes:
- careful pull management
- debuff awareness
- proper boss positioning
- quick add prioritization
Groups that communicate and manage debuffs properly can complete the dungeon smoothly, but parties that ignore the mechanics will often struggle.

Guildmaster Notes
The Aurum Vale is a lesson many adventurers learn the hard way.
Gold once drew miners deep into these caverns, but greed left behind something far worse than empty tunnels. Poison pools choke the ground, twisted plants devour the careless, and every breath in the air feels heavy with decay.
If there is a place in Eorzea where fortune truly rots into ruin, it is here.
