Encounter Overview

Kokytos Savage significantly expands on the Normal mode encounter by introducing strict positioning assignments, sequential mechanics, and several high-precision coordination checks.

The fight cycles through multiple boss forms:

• Mage
• Martialist
• Chimera (combined form)
• Behemoth

Each form introduces new mechanics while layering previously learned patterns together. The encounter also introduces number sequencing mechanics, paired responsibilities, and tower soak orders, making correct player assignments essential.

Failure of most mechanics results in Damage Down, making recovery extremely difficult during later phases.

Arena Overview

The encounter takes place on a circular arena.

Shortly after the fight begins, a purple death border surrounds the platform.

Touching the border instantly kills a player.

Standard party assignments used in this fight include:

Clock Positions
• Supports on cardinals
• DPS on intercardinals

Pair Assignments
• Each pair consists of 1 DPS + 1 support
• Each pair is responsible for a specific cardinal/intercardinal zone

Light Parties
• Tank + Healer + DPS + DPS

These assignments are used repeatedly across multiple phases.

Mechanic Archive

Gluttony’s Augur

Heavy raidwide magical damage.

Response

• mitigate and heal.

Ravening

Phase transition ability.

In Savage difficulty this also triggers Soul Surge, which deals raidwide damage.

Response

• mitigate the raidwide
• prepare for the next boss form.

Mage Phase Mechanics

Duality of Death

Two simultaneous tankbusters.

Main tank receives Fire AoE
Off tank receives Wind AoE

Both attacks hit twice and apply resistance debuffs.

Response

• tanks swap after first hit
• alternatively use invulnerability cooldowns.

Dualspell

The boss prepares two elemental attacks.

One element will flash on screen and be amplified.

Possible elements:

Fire
Ice
Lightning

Ice

Donut AoE.

Safe area is inside the arena rings.

Amplified version

• only the innermost ring is safe.

Fire

Large stack AoEs (Pile Pyre).

Targets either:

• all DPS
• all supports

Each AoE must be shared by two players.

Amplified version

• AoEs become significantly larger.

Lightning

Line AoEs targeting all players.

Amplified version

• line width increases.

Dualspell Combo Patterns

Fire + Ice
Pair stacks

Players stack with their assigned partner.

Position depends on amplified element.

Lightning + Ice
Clock spread

Players move to clock positions within safe ring.

Fire + Ice (second variation)
Same as first combo but opposite element is amplified.

Disgorge

The boss releases the Mage soul and transitions phases.

Immediately followed by Ravening.

Martialist Phase Mechanics

Ascendant Fist

Heavy tankbuster applying:

• Physical Vulnerability Up
• Concussion DoT

Response

• tank swap during cast.

Archaic Rockbreaker

Central knockback that cannot be prevented.

Barriers appear on either:

• cardinals
• intercardinals

Players must be knocked into these barriers.

After the knockback:

• either DPS or supports receive split damage AoEs.

Crack Explosions

Cracks spread outward from the center.

Orbs travel through some cracks and explode in circular AoEs.

Two waves occur.

Front Combination / Rear Combination

Three-part attack sequence.

  1. Point-blank or donut AoE

  2. 180° cleave (front or rear)

  3. Opposite AoE type

Players must dodge this sequence while avoiding crack explosions.

Archaic Demolish

Two healer-targeted stack markers.

Response

• split into light parties.

Gluttony’s Augur

Raidwide damage.

Also removes the barriers.

Chimera Phase Mechanics

This phase combines Mage and Martialist mechanics.

Levinstrike Summoning

Four lightning orbs spawn near barriers.

Each orb is numbered:

1, 3, 5, 7

Four players receive numbers:

2, 4, 6, 8

Scrambled Succession

Sequential mechanic resolution.

Sequence pattern:

  1. Lightning orb kick

  2. Tower spawn

  3. Firemeld (player AoE)

  4. Icemeld (large AoE)

To avoid Magic Vulnerability deaths, towers must be soaked in the order:

6 → 8 → 2 → 4

Players hit by Firemeld must isolate.

Players hit by Icemeld must also isolate.

Two Minds

Dualspell-style mechanic.

Element pairs include:

Fire + Ice
Lightning + Ice

Handled similarly to earlier Dualspell patterns.

Behemoth Phase Mechanics

Charybdis

Four large persistent AoEs spawn on cardinals or intercardinals.

Comet

Four proximity AoEs spawn at the remaining positions.

Players must move toward the center to mitigate damage.

Rocks spawn afterward:

• two cracked rocks
• two intact rocks

Beastly Bile

Furthest-target stack AoE.

Must be soaked by four players.

Thunderbolt

Four cone AoEs aimed at closest players.

Mechanic Goal

Players must preserve the two intact rocks for the next mechanic.

Typical strategy

Supports bait Beastly Bile on damaged rocks
DPS bait Thunderbolt away from remaining rocks

Then roles swap.

Ecliptic Meteor

Meteor targets a random rock.

Players must hide behind an undamaged rock to survive.

Beastly Fury

Moderate raidwide damage.

Chimera Phase 2

This phase combines mechanics from both earlier forms.

Duality of Death

Double tankbuster.

Archaic Rockbreaker

Knockback to barriers again.

Players split into assigned pairs.

Crack Explosions + Dualspell

Exploding cracks occur alongside Fire + Ice Dualspell.

Players dodge cracks first, then resolve pair stacks.

Chimeric Succession

Four furthest players receive numbers 1–4.

These players will receive large Icemeld AoEs.

They must remain isolated.

Front/Rear Firestrikes

Stack marker on a random player.

Deals proximity damage.

Players bait this away from others.

Swinging Kick

180° cleave tied to Front or Rear Firestrikes.

Two Minds

Another Dualspell-style mechanic.

Final Phase

The encounter repeats mechanics from earlier phases:

• Duality of Death
• Dualspell combinations
• Gluttony’s Augur
• Ravening transitions

Enrage

Disintegration

Hard enrage cast.

If Kokytos finishes this cast the party wipes.
