Encounter Overview
Thok ast Thok (Hard) is a level 53 trial introduced in Heavensward. In this encounter, players face
Ravana, Lord of the Hive, in a fast-moving battle built around stance-based attack patterns, long
multi-step AoE sequences, and a mid-fight add phase that determines how dangerous his ultimate
attack becomes.
The fight revolves around recognizing whether Ravana is entering an offensive or defensive cycle,
reacting to wide arena telegraphs, and destroying summoned adds before Chandrahas
resolves. As the encounter continues, Ravana also builds Bloodlust, which steadily
increases his damage and acts as a soft enrage.
Arena Overview
The encounter takes place in a circular platform with open edges. Early in the fight the arena is
more forgiving, but after the ultimate sequence parts of the outer wall break away, making later
knockbacks much more dangerous.
Because several mechanics force players to spread, cross the arena, or move between center and edge
safe zones, maintaining awareness of Ravana’s facing and the current safe section of the platform is
critical throughout the fight.
Mechanic Archive
Bloodlust
Ravana gains Bloodlust throughout the encounter. Every 100 Bloodlust grants him a permanent stack
of Damage Up. This steadily increases incoming damage and acts as the fight’s soft
enrage.
Prelude to Slaughter
A long cast that resolves as a three-part AoE sequence.
- A large melee-range AoE around Ravana.
- A pattern of linear fire AoEs across the arena with several safe lanes.
- A final arena-wide AoE that leaves only the center safe.
The sequence does not resolve until the cast finishes, so players must read the full pattern and
move in order.
Slaughter
Another long multi-step sequence with several overlapping mechanics.
- A forward-and-back line attack from Ravana that knocks players back.
- A cross-shaped fire pattern across the arena.
- Two players are marked with large purple circles that must be spread away from the group and
from each other.
The cross pattern resolves before the purple circles explode, creating a brief window for players
to move through the cross to reach safe positions.
Revenge
A short self-buff that increases Ravana’s parry and reflects minor damage from certain directions.
This is generally low impact compared to the encounter’s larger mechanics.
Chandrahas
Ravana’s ultimate attack and the encounter’s major phase transition. Before Chandrahas resolves,
Ravana summons adds that must be defeated quickly. Any surviving adds leave swords in the arena,
and each sword causes an additional Laughing Moon hit before the ultimate lands.
Too many swords usually results in a wipe.
Laughing Moon
A raidwide hit used during the Chandrahas sequence. Each surviving sword in the arena causes an
additional cast of Laughing Moon, applying damage and vulnerability before the final ultimate
resolves.
Spirit Gana
An add that appears during the transition sequence. It casts Blizzard and then
Falling Laughter. If Falling Laughter finishes, the add leaves behind a sword for
the Chandrahas sequence.
Moon Gana
An add that appears during the transition sequence and casts Fire followed by
Falling Laughter. These adds cast quickly and are especially dangerous if ignored.
Pillars of Heaven
A raidwide AoE combined with knockback. After the arena walls break, this attack can knock players
off the platform if they are not positioned to be pushed safely.
Surpanakha
A repeated line attack targeted at a marked player, most commonly the off-tank. Ravana throws
multiple linear AoEs in succession toward that target, damaging anyone caught in the path.
Rose of Hate / Rose of Conquest
Ravana casts a linear AoE while four purple orbs appear tethered to players. The orbs explode on
contact, dealing heavy damage and applying vulnerability. The tethered players must separate so the
orb explosions do not overlap on the group.
Swift Slaughter
A three-part sequence used during Ravana’s offensive stance.
- Several players are marked and Ravana rushes toward them.
- The outer half of the arena becomes unsafe, leaving the center safe.
- The center then becomes unsafe, leaving the edge safe.
This mechanic forces players to spread correctly, then reposition quickly between center and edge
safe zones.
Atma-Linga
A raidwide AoE used when Ravana is in neither offensive nor defensive stance. It may be used more
than once in succession.
Cleave Auto-Attacks
Ravana cleaves with his normal attacks, so he should always be faced away from the party.
Encounter Flow
Phase 1
Ravana opens with his core stance-based mechanics and uses Prelude to Slaughter
and Slaughter as the main movement checks. This phase is focused on learning his
AoE sequencing and maintaining clean positioning around the arena.
Chandrahas Transition
At roughly 60% HP, Ravana begins the transition phase and summons Spirit Gana and
Moon Gana adds. These must be defeated before they finish Falling
Laughter. Any surviving adds leave swords behind, and each sword increases the damage of
the following Laughing Moon sequence before Chandrahas lands.
Phase 2
After the ultimate sequence, Ravana gains the rest of his toolkit. He begins rotating between
offensive and defensive stance patterns.
In offensive stance he uses Swift Slaughter followed by Slaughter.
In defensive stance he uses Pillars of Heaven, Surpanakha, and
Rose of Hate. Between stance cycles, Ravana may use Atma-Linga or
focus on the tank.
Because the outer wall is partially destroyed after the transition, later knockbacks become much
more dangerous and players must angle themselves so Pillars of Heaven pushes them
into safe sections of the arena rather than off the edge.
