Encounter Overview
The Howling Eye introduces several mechanics centered around line-of-sight protection and environmental interaction. Throughout the encounter, Garuda uses powerful wind attacks that can only be avoided by positioning behind stone pillars placed around the arena.
These pillars can be damaged by Garuda’s attacks or by Razor Plume adds, making add control and careful positioning essential to surviving the encounter.
After Garuda unleashes her signature attack Aerial Blast, the fight transitions into a second phase that restricts the safe area of the arena while introducing additional burst damage mechanics.
Arena Analysis
The arena is a circular platform containing several stone pillars positioned around the battlefield. These pillars serve two important purposes:
-
blocking Garuda’s powerful line-of-sight attacks
-
reducing the damage of her ultimate ability Aerial Blast
Many of Garuda’s abilities can damage these pillars. If the pillars are destroyed too early, players will have fewer safe locations to avoid her most dangerous attacks.
During the second phase of the encounter, Garuda creates a vortex surrounding the arena, forcing players to remain near the center of the platform to avoid heavy damage.
Phase Structure
Phase One (100% – ~50%)
Garuda introduces her core mechanics, including frontal attacks, area damage, and line-of-sight mechanics that require players to hide behind stone pillars.
During this phase she periodically summons Razor Plumes, which must be destroyed before they damage the pillars.
Transition – Aerial Blast
At roughly half health, Garuda moves to the center of the arena and begins casting Aerial Blast, a powerful raidwide attack.
The amount of damage dealt depends on how many stone pillars remain intact.
Phase Two
After Aerial Blast resolves, Garuda creates a persistent vortex around the arena that restricts safe movement to the center of the platform. She continues to use earlier mechanics while adding stronger burst attacks and additional Razor Plume adds.
