Encounter Overview

The Akh Afah Amphitheatre (Extreme) is the high-end trial version of the Shiva encounter from
A Realm Reborn. The fight revolves around Shiva cycling between several weapon forms, each of
which introduces a different set of mechanics and tank interactions.

Throughout the encounter players must react to Shiva’s weapon changes, handle arena hazards,
and control positioning during knockbacks and sliding mechanics. The fight gradually becomes
more dangerous as Shiva gains stacks of Dreams of Ice, eventually reaching a
hard enrage if she is not defeated quickly enough.

Arena Overview

The encounter takes place on a circular frozen arena surrounded by icy walls. During the later
portion of the fight touching the edge of the arena will freeze players into a block of ice,
requiring teammates to destroy the ice prison to free them.

Several mechanics also coat the floor in ice, causing players to slide uncontrollably if they
attempt to move too quickly. Because of this, careful movement and positioning are required
throughout the second half of the fight.

Mechanic Archive

Dreams of Ice

Shiva gains a stacking Damage Up buff throughout the encounter. These stacks
serve as a soft enrage timer, increasing the damage of her attacks as the fight continues.

Icicle Impact

Circular markers appear across the arena in several patterns before icicles fall from above.
Players must move out of the marked areas before the attack resolves or take heavy damage.

Unarmed Form

After switching weapons, Shiva temporarily enters an unarmed state where she performs several
basic attacks before changing weapons again.

Sword Form

When Shiva equips her sword, her auto-attacks apply stacks of Blunt Resistance Down
to the main tank. Tanks will take increased damage from her attacks when she switches forms later.

Icebrand

A wide conal attack used immediately after Shiva equips her sword. The tank should face this
attack toward the party so the damage can be shared between players.

Glacier Bash

A conal attack that deals heavy damage and stuns players caught in it. The tank can avoid the
attack by running through Shiva once the cast begins.

Whiteout

An untelegraphed donut-shaped AoE centered on Shiva. Players must either move very close to her
or remain at the outer edge of the arena to avoid damage.

Heavenly Strike

A knockback attack used intermittently while Shiva is in Sword Form.

Staff Form

When Shiva equips her staff, her auto-attacks apply Slashing Resistance Down
to the main tank, making tank swaps important when forms change.

Hail Storm

Players are marked with circular AoEs that appear above their heads. All marked players must
spread apart to avoid overlapping damage.

Absolute Zero

A raid-wide magical attack that deals moderate damage to the entire party.

Bow Form

Bow Form appears during the later portion of the encounter and introduces powerful directional
attacks and knockback mechanics.

Glass Dance

A massive cone attack that covers roughly 270 degrees of the arena. Players must stand directly
behind Shiva to avoid being struck by the attack.

Avalanche

A random player is marked and targeted by a powerful line attack that knocks them backward.
The knockback can be mitigated using abilities such as Arm’s Length or Surecast.

Permafrost

The arena becomes coated in ice, applying a damage-over-time effect and the
Thin Ice debuff to all players. Moving while affected by Thin Ice
causes players to slide uncontrollably across the arena.

Thin Ice

Players must remain stationary for a short time after Permafrost resolves to avoid sliding into
dangerous positions or the frozen arena wall.

Diamond Dust

Shiva temporarily becomes untargetable and freezes the party before unleashing a powerful
raid-wide attack. During the add phase, all summoned enemies must be defeated before this
ability resolves or the party will wipe.

Hard Enrage

If Shiva reaches eleven stacks of Dreams of Ice, she will cast Diamond Dust
one final time and instantly kill the entire party.

Encounter Flow

Phase 1

Shiva alternates between Sword Form, Staff Form, and
Unarmed Form. Tanks must manage the resistance debuffs from each weapon
while the party handles Icicle Impact patterns and spreading mechanics.

Add Phase

Four Ice Soldier adds spawn and Shiva temporarily focuses on the group while they are active.
All adds must be defeated before Shiva disappears to cast Diamond Dust.
If any adds remain alive when the attack resolves, the party will wipe.

Phase 2

After the add phase Shiva gains access to Bow Form and the
Permafrost arena mechanic. Players must now manage sliding movement,
knockbacks, and additional Icicle Impact patterns while avoiding the frozen arena walls.

Shiva continues cycling through Sword, Staff, Bow, and Unarmed forms until she is defeated
or reaches her final Diamond Dust enrage.
