Encounter Overview

Shiva’s fight is built around stance transitions, with each stance granting different abilities and attack patterns.

Throughout the encounter Shiva will switch between:

  • Unarmed stance

  • Staff stance

  • Sword stance

Each stance changes her abilities and requires different positioning from the party.

In addition to these stance mechanics, players must also handle:

  • large AoE patterns

  • add waves

  • sliding floor mechanics

  • arena edge hazards

Arena Analysis

The fight takes place in a circular frozen arena.

During the later phases:

  • the arena edge becomes dangerous, freezing players who touch it

  • the floor may become covered in ice, causing players to slide uncontrollably

Because of these mechanics, precise movement and positioning become increasingly important as the encounter progresses.

Phase Structure

Phase 1 — Stance Mechanics

Shiva cycles through her weapon stances and introduces her primary attack patterns.

Add Phase — Diamond Dust

Shiva summons Ice Soldier adds that must be defeated before she casts her ultimate attack.

Phase 2 — Frozen Battlefield

The arena becomes more dangerous with new sliding mechanics and expanded AoE patterns.

Core Mechanic — Dreams of Ice

Throughout the fight, Shiva periodically casts Dreams of Ice.

What It Does

  • Grants Shiva a permanent Damage Up stack.

Why It Matters

Each stack increases the damage of Shiva’s abilities.

Soft Enrage

The buff caps at 16 stacks, effectively acting as a soft enrage if the fight continues too long.

Stance Mechanics

Shiva switches between three stances during the fight.

Each stance changes her abilities and combat behavior.

Unarmed Form

In this form Shiva fights without a weapon.

Behavior

Her auto-attacks cleave in a small frontal area.

Player Positioning

The tank should keep Shiva facing away from the party.

Icicle Impact (Version 1)

Type: AoE pattern attack

How to Recognize It

  • Five circular AoE markers appear across the arena.

What It Does

Players hit by the explosions take damage and gain Vulnerability Up stacks.

How Players Handle It

Players should move to one of the safe gaps between the circles.

Staff Form

When Shiva equips her staff, she gains increased magical damage.

Frost Brand (Staff)

This buff increases Shiva’s offensive power while in this stance.

Hailstorm

Type: Targeted AoE

How to Recognize It

  • Multiple players receive circular AoE markers.

What It Does

Each marker explodes after a short delay.

How Players Handle It

Players should spread out to avoid overlapping damage.

Absolute Zero

Type: Raidwide attack

How to Recognize It

  • No cast bar.

What It Does

Deals unavoidable damage to the entire party.

How Players Handle It

Healers should prepare group healing.

Sword Form

When Shiva switches to sword form, she becomes more aggressive.

Frost Brand (Sword)

In this stance Shiva gains:

  • reduced damage taken

  • a small self-healing effect

Icebrand

Type: Tankbuster

How to Recognize It

  • Shiva switches to sword stance and immediately attacks.

What It Does

A powerful frontal cone attack targeting the tank.

Why It’s Dangerous

Players caught in the attack can be instantly defeated.

How Players Handle It

The tank must face Shiva away from the party.

Heavenly Strike

Type: Knockback

How to Recognize It

  • Shiva emits a burst of frost.

What It Does

Knocks players away from the boss.

How Players Handle It

Players can resist the knockback with abilities such as:

  • Arm’s Length

  • Surecast

Glacier Bash

Type: Frontal cone attack

What It Does

Deals heavy damage and inflicts Stun.

How Players Handle It

Players should move behind Shiva to avoid the attack.

Add Phase

At a certain point in the fight, Shiva moves to the center of the arena and summons Ice Soldier adds.

Add Mechanics

  • Four Ice Soldiers appear

  • Tanks should gather them together

  • The party should defeat them quickly

Diamond Dust

After the add phase Shiva casts Diamond Dust, her signature attack.

  • If any adds remain alive, the party will be wiped.

  • If all adds are defeated, the attack deals heavy raidwide damage.

Phase 2 Mechanics

After Diamond Dust, additional mechanics are introduced.

Arena Edge Freeze

From this point onward:

  • touching the arena edge freezes the player into an ice boulder

Other players must destroy the boulder to free them.

Icicle Impact (Version 2)

Type: Sequential AoE pattern

How to Recognize It

  • Nine AoE circles appear across the arena in sequence.

What It Does

The explosions occur in order.

How Players Handle It

Players should stand in the last AoE location and move into earlier safe areas as they resolve.

Permafrost

Type: Movement mechanic

  • Shiva freezes the arena floor.

What It Does

Players gain Thin Ice, causing them to slide when moving.

Why It’s Dangerous

Sliding into the arena edge can freeze players.

How Players Handle It

Players should remain still until the effect ends.

Mechanic Interaction Notes

Shiva’s mechanics become more dangerous as Dreams of Ice stacks increase, making positioning mistakes more punishing.

The final phase becomes particularly dangerous when Permafrost, Icicle Impact, and stance attacks overlap.

Role Pressure Analysis

Tank Pressure

Tanks must carefully position Shiva to prevent Icebrand and cleave attacks from hitting the party.

Healer Pressure

Healers must manage raidwide damage and recover players hit by vulnerability stacks or sliding mistakes.

DPS Pressure

DPS players must quickly defeat the Ice Soldiers during the add phase to prevent a wipe from Diamond Dust.

Common Failure Points

Groups often struggle when:

  • Icicle Impact patterns are misread
