Thornmarch (Hard) Trial Guide

Thornmarch (Hard) is a level 50 trial introduced in A Realm Reborn. In this encounter, players battle the Moogle Guard before confronting Good King Moggle Mog XII, ruler of the moogles.

Unlike many trials, Thornmarch features multiple enemies with different roles and abilities. Players must first defeat the royal guard of moogles before the king joins the battle and begins issuing powerful decrees that summon his guard to assist him.

Encounter Overview

The encounter begins with players fighting the Moogle Guard, a group of moogles each representing a different combat role. These enemies enter the battlefield in waves and demonstrate a variety of attacks including AoE damage, tankbusters, and support abilities.

After all members of the guard appear, Good King Moggle Mog XII enters the battlefield and begins issuing Good King’s Decree, summoning the moogles to perform coordinated attacks across the arena.

Players must react to a variety of stacked mechanics, movement checks, and add abilities while defeating the king.

These enemies appear in waves before the king enters the battle.

Phase One – Moogle Guard

At the start of the encounter, players fight the Moogle Guard in groups.

Each moogle introduces mechanics that appear again later during the king phase.

Spinning Mogshield

Type: Point-blank AoE

Used by Kupdi Koop.
Players standing close to the moogle take damage.

Mograin of Death

Type: Player-targeted AoE

Used by Kupqu Kogi.

Each player receives a circular AoE marker that explodes after a short delay.

Players must spread apart to avoid overlapping damage.

1000 Kuporize Swipe

Type: Frontal cone attack

Used by Kupta Kapa.

Players should avoid standing in front of the moogle.

Moogleday Night Fever

Type: Linear AoE

Used by Puksi Piko.

Players must move out of the line attack.

Pom Holy

Type: Area attack

Used by Kupli Kipp.

Deals moderate damage and may briefly disrupt players.

Pom Meteor

Type: Meteor mechanic

Used by Pukla Puki.

Large markers appear on the ground where meteor impacts will land.
Players must stand in these markers to absorb the impact and prevent large raid damage.

Moogle Thrust

Type: Tankbuster

Used by Pukna Pako.

Deals heavy damage to the tank.

After the Moogle Guard members appear and are defeated, Good King Moggle Mog XII arrives and uses Memento Moogle, dealing heavy raidwide damage.

Phase Two – Good King Moggle Mog XII

The king becomes the primary target for the remainder of the encounter.

Throughout this phase, the king repeatedly issues Good King’s Decree, summoning members of the Moogle Guard to perform coordinated attacks.

How to Recognize It

The king summons members of the Moogle Guard to perform coordinated attacks.

Each decree introduces different combinations of abilities from the moogles.

First Decree

The king summons Kupqu Kogi and Pukna Pako.

Pom Bog

Creates a damaging poison zone in the center of the arena.

Mog Stone IV

A stack marker appears over a player.
Players must group together to share the damage.

After the stack resolves, players must spread out to avoid Mograin of Death.

Second Decree

The king summons Kupdi Koop, Puksi Piko, and Kupta Kapa.

Moogle-Go-Round

Multiple large AoEs appear across the arena in sequence.

Players must move between safe areas as the attacks resolve.

Twin Pom Meteor

A shared tank attack requiring both tanks to absorb the damage together.

Third Decree

The king summons Kupli Kipp and Pukla Puki.

Mog Comet

Circular AoEs appear and begin chasing players.

Pom Stone III

Expanding arena AoEs force players to reposition toward safe areas.

Mechanic Interaction Notes

The encounter revolves around reacting to the king’s decrees, which repeatedly combine mechanics from different members of the Moogle Guard.

Players must recognize which moogles are involved in each decree to determine which mechanics will occur next.
