Encounter Overview

The Navel (Extreme) pits the party against Titan in one of the earliest high-difficulty trials in Final Fantasy XIV. The fight emphasizes spatial awareness, knockback positioning, and disciplined handling of bomb patterns while navigating a shrinking arena. Many mechanics revolve around avoiding being knocked off the platform, which results in instant death.

The encounter progresses through multiple phases, introducing Granite Gaols, Bomb Boulder patterns, and Titan’s Heart damage check before culminating in a hectic final phase that combines all mechanics together.

Arena Overview

The battle takes place on a circular arena suspended above a chasm. Falling from the platform results in immediate death and cannot be recovered.

During the first phase, Titan will leap into the air and destroy the outer ring of the arena, shrinking the battlefield significantly. After this point, positioning becomes far more restrictive and mechanics must be handled carefully to avoid being knocked off the platform.

Mechanic Archive

Landslide

A long frontal line attack that knocks back anyone struck.

Strategy:
• tanks should keep Titan facing away from the party
• always sidestep the telegraph quickly
• getting hit by Landslide usually results in being knocked off the platform.

Weight of the Land

Circular AoE markers appear beneath players.

Strategy:
• players should initially stack behind Titan to control where the AoEs spawn
• once the markers appear, spread quickly to avoid overlapping explosions
• controlled stacking makes the mechanic easier to dodge consistently.

Mountain Buster

A powerful tankbuster that also applies stacking damage.

Strategy:
• mitigate the hit with cooldowns
• tanks should consider swapping every 2–3 stacks to reduce incoming damage.

Tumult

Repeated arena-wide stomps that deal raidwide damage.

Strategy:
• healers should prepare for sustained damage rather than a single burst
• mitigation helps stabilize the group before the next mechanic.

Granite Gaol

Two players are imprisoned inside stone gaols.

Strategy:
• Titan usually targets one DPS and one healer
• the DPS should stand directly under Titan when targeted
• the healer should move toward the outer edge of the arena
• destroy the DPS gaol first so damage output remains high.

Bomb Boulders

Bombs appear across the arena in specific patterns before exploding.

Strategy:
• for large coverage patterns, locate the safe zone quickly
• for circular bomb patterns, wait for the first explosions and move into the cleared space
• patience is key, rushing into bombs early often leads to mistakes.

Upheaval

A large knockback originating from Titan.

Strategy:
• stack behind Titan before the cast completes
• positioning close to the boss reduces the distance pushed back
• knockback immunity abilities can trivialize the mechanic.

Geocrush

Titan leaps into the air and crashes down, dealing heavy raidwide damage while shrinking the arena.

Strategy:
• move toward the center before the landing
• prepare for the smaller arena and tighter positioning afterward.

Titan’s Heart

A special target that appears at 55% HP.

Strategy:
• the entire raid must focus the heart immediately
• destroying the heart before the third Weight of the Land is mandatory
• failure results in Titan casting Earthen Fury and wiping the raid.

Granite Gaolers

Additional adds that appear in the final phase.

Strategy:
• quickly destroy the gaolers while continuing to avoid Titan’s mechanics
• do not let add damage distract from bomb patterns or Landslide.

Encounter Flow

The fight begins with Titan using familiar mechanics such as Landslide, Weight of the Land, and Tumult. Players should stack behind Titan to control Weight of the Land placement and dodge Landslide consistently while tanks manage Mountain Buster stacks.

At the end of the first phase, Titan performs Geocrush, destroying the outer edge of the arena and shrinking the battlefield. Phase two introduces Granite Gaol mechanics and the first Bomb Boulder patterns, forcing players to manage positioning carefully while avoiding knockbacks from Upheaval.

When Titan reaches roughly 55% HP, the Titan’s Heart phase begins. The raid must destroy the heart before the third Weight of the Land or suffer a raid wipe from Earthen Fury. Bomb patterns and Gaols continue during this phase, making positioning and damage output critical.

After the heart is destroyed, the final phase combines nearly every mechanic introduced earlier in the fight. Additional Granite Gaolers appear while Titan continues using bombs, Landslides, and Weight of the Land patterns. The arena remains small, leaving little room for error.

If Titan survives long enough, he will begin repeatedly casting an extended Upheaval that knocks players far beyond the platform, functioning as a soft enrage. Groups must defeat Titan before this point to secure victory.
